The "Good Health and Well-being" Expert Forum was Successfully Held
On April 26, Eastern Standard Time, New York - The "Healing of Body, Mind, and Soul in the Pandemic" online video expert forum on traditional Chinese and Western medicine was jointly initiated by the Yueqing Association in New York and the UCT International Cultural Development Center, a non-governmental organization with special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, and co-organized by the Expo Global Youth SDGs Summit. The forum was launched globally on the evening of April 26, with simultaneous events in New York.
The forum was hosted by Li Yiling, the chairperson of the UCT Cultural Center. She introduced that the UN NGO-UCT plans to conduct a series of activities themed on promoting UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 "Good Health and Well-being" this year. This event mainly targeted the Chinese community and ethnic Chinese groups, and received support from many Chinese organizations in New York, especially the Yueqing Association in New York, which strongly supported and jointly initiated the forum. At the beginning of the meeting, Chen Zhibin, the president of the New York Yueqing Association, delivered a speech, expounding on the significance and vision of the forum. He hoped that the conference would provide all possible assistance to people affected by the pandemic.
Subsequently, Professor Li Guodong, the Peace Ambassador of the United Nations Summit, calligrapher, and expert in traditional Chinese and Western medicine, delivered a speech and presented a calligraphy banner written for the meeting. Congresswoman Grace Meng filmed a VCR expressing her wishes for the conference and people affected by the pandemic. Councilwoman Margaret Chin expressed her appreciation and gratitude to the professionals for their assistance to people struggling with the pandemic, and hoped that they would continue to contribute to society until the pandemic was completely contained. She presented two certificates of commendation to President Chen Zhibin, who is enthusiastic about public welfare, on behalf of the New York City Council and entrusted by Congresswoman Meng. Lin Jiji, the president of the Zhejiang Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the United States, and Huang Sheng, the president of the North American Asian American Co-Creation Association, also delivered enthusiastic greetings as active community leaders.
Afterward, elites from various fields expressed their views on how to restore people's physical, mental, and spiritual well-being in the post-pandemic era. Multiple doctors and individuals engaged in health and cultural arts-related industries from New York, mainland China, and other places introduced methods and techniques for coping with the pandemic and restoring physical and mental health. They include Dr. Zhang Qi, president of the New York Health College; Associate Professor Wu Zhongpei of Alfred University, a renowned guzheng player; Zhou Yan, deputy director of Yueqing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, a renowned traditional Chinese medicine doctor in Yueqing; Dr. Wu Shan, a certified nutrition consultant in the United States; Chen Sitan, a world Taijiquan champion and the most influential Taiji figure globally; He Yingli, the founder of Shanghai-style sand painting and the chairperson of the Expo Global Youth Alliance; Professor Zhao Chun, a renowned expert in the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine and a lifelong professor at Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine; and Lin Rongsheng, a renowned traditional Chinese medicine doctor in New York and vice president of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. Finally, Deng Jialong, a musician from Hubei, China, brought an original song MV "You and I Can Be Each Other's Sunshine" to the forum, calling on everyone to work together and support each other.
The host of the conference, Li Yiling, expressed her gratitude to President Chen Zhibin of the Yueqing Association, President Lin Jiji of the Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and other community leaders who are passionate about public welfare, as well as experts and elites from various regions. She hoped that the conference could unite more people to continue to enthusiastically participate in promoting the UN's sustainable development goals, assist in the physical and mental recovery of people affected by the pandemic, and contribute to the UN's spirit of cooperation and love.
