刘守瑶，教授，学者、书画家，祖籍江苏沛县，出生于江苏盐城，曾研修于中国美术学院，并曾受到黄胄大师的指导，现为南京理工大学教授、南京金盏花文化艺术中心签约画家。他的中国画取法传统，又有时代新意，灵气逼人，自成一格，极具名家风范。本次展出了他的海岛、山水、动物题材的33幅中国画作品，他把中国绘画的传统与西方绘画技法有机结合，其笔下的海岛、山水作品，泼墨重彩，用笔飘逸洒脱，构图神奇，体现出光影的明暗，营造出气势恢宏的效果。此次他还展出了他专门创作的中国海岛景色，用手中的画笔表现了中国海岛山水美景。其笔下的动物，尤以猫画专长，生动传神，神情逼真，跃然纸上，呼之欲出，惹人喜爱。一幅幅妙品佳作让观众们看得流连忘返，称赞不已。

Shouyao Liu is a professor, scholar, and painter from Pei County, Jiangsu; he was born in Yancheng. He was once doing research in China Academy of Art and instructed by Master Kui Huang. He is now a professor in Nanjing University of Science and Technology and a contracted painter of Nanjing Marigold Culture and Art Center. His Chinese paintings have traditional styles combined with new innovative ideas, so they have both the vividness and uniqueness to be considered as masterpieces. He has exhibited thirty-three Chinese paintings with the themes of islands, landscape, and animals this time. He has a special way of combining the Chinese painting traditions with the Western techniques, and the objects in the paintings are created remarkably with the light-shade contrast and thus making a spectacular effect of dominance. He has also exhibited the paintings with the landscape of ocean islands. The animals, especially cats, are painted so lifelike and adorable that people almost feel they are true. All the paintings are unbelievably attractive and sincerely complimented by the audience.

 

UCT国际文化发展中心总裁李依凌表示，很高兴能邀请到刘守瑶教授到纽约举办个展。她说，此次画展特别值得一提的是，刘守瑶结合当前热门话题，专门创作了《钓鱼岛我们的》、《黄岩岛》、《美丽的台湾玉山》等作品，用画笔表现了中国海岛山水美景，必将加深海外侨胞、海外观众对中国领土、海岛文化知识的了解。

The director of the UCT International Culture Development Center Yiling Li has stated that it is their pleasure to have invited Prof. Shouyao Liu to New York for the exhibition. She says, “it is worth mentioning that Prof. Liu has specifically created some works which are closely linked to the popular issues of the world such as ‘Our Diaoyu Islands’, ‘Huangyan Island’, and ‘The Beautiful Yushan of Taiwan’.” The beautiful landscape of the Chinese mountains and islands represented by the paintings must have made people overseas more aware of the knowledge of the Chinese territory and the culture of islands.

 

美国中国文化艺术基金会主席朱瑞凯表示，刘守瑶先生为人低调谦和，艺术修养深厚，他的作品能体现中国风格、中国气派，是当今中国画坛不可多得的德艺双馨艺术家。把他请到美国纽约办展，旨在用艺术的形式世界展示中华文化的博大精深，促进中美文化交流和加深两国人民的友谊。

The president of the Chinese Culture and Art Foundation in U.S.A. Ruikai Zhu states that Mr. Shouyao Liu has a humble personality and great artistic accomplishments; his works are able to show the Chinese style, and he is really an exceptional artist nowadays with good morality and skills; the purpose of inviting him to New York for exhibition is to show the greatness of Chinese culture to the world thus promoting the communication and friendship between the people of China and America.

 

刘守瑶的作品曾多次参加国内外展览，被北京人民大会堂、钓鱼台国宾馆等多家单位和个人收藏。相继出版了《刘守瑶花鸟画集》、《刘守瑶画集》、《刘守瑶山水画集（一）》、《刘守瑶山水画集（二）》、《刘守瑶山水画集（三）》、《刘守瑶书法集》。刘守瑶受聘于中国美术学院、上海大学、中山大学、上海师范大学、中国画研究院等单位为名誉教授，荣宝斋特聘画师、香港各家画廊签约画家。

Shouyao Liu’s works have been exhibited worldwide many times and are collected by the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, and other organizations and individuals. Professor Liu has also published Collection of Shouyao Liu’s Paintings of Flowers and Birds, Collection of Shouyao Liu’s Paintings, Collection of Shouyao Liu’s landscape Paintings (Issue One), Collection of Shouyao Liu’s landscape Paintings (Issue Two), Collection of Shouyao Liu’s landscape Paintings (Issue Three), and Collection of Shouyao Liu Calligraphy. He was invited as honorary professor by China Academy of Art, Shanghai University, Sun Yat-sen University, Shanghai Normal University, and Research Academy of Chinese Art. He is also a specially invited painter of Rongbaozhai and a contracted painter of the Art Galleries in Hong Kong.

 

在纽约举办个展前，刘守瑶曾先后在上海、杭州、南京、徐州、广州、青岛、洛杉矶、日本大阪、法国里昂、巴黎、荷兰、比利时等地美术馆展出，深受观众好评。

Before coming to New York, Shouyao Liu has had exhibitions in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Xuzhou, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Los Angeles, Osaka, Lyon, Paris, Netherland, and Belgium; the exhibited works have received decent comments by the audience.
